I've just purchased this book based on the reviews alone. The review from "Crochet" was extremely well written, in particular. I'm the author of the novel, COVER THE BUTTER (Penguin) and of a recently published lead essay in the non-fiction FOR KEEPS (Seal Press) both of which feature the dilemma, grief and heartache of being the child, then adult child of a toxic parent. I have been searching for a sensible, straight forward self-help book for years, and it looks like I have found one at last. I so need to... more info

  • Divorcing a Parent: Free Yourself from the Past
This book is an excellent publication for anyone who has suffered mental and emotional abuse at the hands of a parent/parents. Very highly recommended reading for anyone feeling abused by a... more info

I recently finished Beverly Engel's Divorcing a Parent: Free Yourself from the... more info

We are always at fault for something, regardless of what it is. We are called 'mental' by our families for not liking that abuse! Meanwhile we try to be 'good' and not insult them back with something. During this silence we up making ourselves sick through that acting; we are emotionally and... more info
