• Dollar for Dollar, the Most Help for Your Money
  The Good CD Guide, simply, is the most helpful of the "Big" CD Guides out there. While I DO also consider it "too much" for the novice...the edgy, unknown composers are so numerous, that over half the book will probably not be used by the novice, and I find this a great waste, both of the purchaser's money, and also, of trees. (I have become very conscious these past few years on how much we waste...think newspapers! What gets wasted every Sunday alone....!)

• Review of "Good" and Penguin Classical CD Guides
  Truth be told there just are not that many good classical music guides to choose from. In terms of scope the Good Guide is second to the Penguin. In my humble opinion, if you're serious about building or adding to an existing collection of classical CDs and DVDs you will own the "Good" book. You'll also own the Penguin Guide simply due to its more comprehensive scope as there are works (e.g., Beethoven's Overtures to name but one example) that are not covered in the "Good".

  Excellent publication; if you are a classical music lover and you are building up your library, this is the reference book for you. Clear, concise information on your favorites and works you may be tempted to try for the first time! Great to see DVD and downloads also included.
