i got this book with the impression that it would discuss persuasion techniques related to sales and marketing to some extent, but after reading most of it i found out that the techniques and ideas presented are entirely based on trying to sell someone something. great for sales person but not for us common folk

Covers all you need to know about persuasion 
I looked at this book on the shelf for a couple years before deciding to purchase and read it. Who the heck was this Dr. Hogan anyway? When I finally got around to buying it and started to read I just couldn't put it down. This is an excellent introduction and practice manual for anybody interested in learning about persuasion or in honing their persuasion skills. persuaded ? 
Im not sure how much is lost in the translation but I bought the tapes. I drive 90mins. daily and audio works best. the tapes seem to spend over half of the presentation selling the presentation and persuading me how great this revelation is. I think that I got about 50 mins of hands on valuable , repeatable or building block materials to make me a better persuader.
