• Flimsy piece of junk
  What a waste of time. I tried slicing carrots into julienne slices like it shows on the packaging which doesn't work AT ALL. This is false advertising at its worst. These are the problems I ran into doing so:
  * The julienne slicer falls out of place after each push and has to be re-adjusted
  * The plastic is so flimsy that you have to hold the whole thing together on front and back ends while you are slicing anything

• Best buy
  I bought this mandoline on the recommendation of Cooks' Illustrated magazine, who said it's just not worth spending the money for an expensive one.

• Great amateur instrument
  I've worked as a professional cook in a busy restaurant kitchen which had two different models of pro-grade mandolines, but I have this one at home. If you're slicing a zillion of something, then the complex settings of a pro-grade may be worth the trouble--but then, why not use a food processor?   I have used it sparingly but it does a good job with tomatoes. Watch out that you don't cut your fingers. Very sharp!.
