Best splitting axe ever! Well worth the $$$
I had a fiberglass splitting maul that I bought at Home Depot for $32. It also had a 4lb head, but only lasted 2 weekends of splitting. I cracked the head and the blade was jacked. I did my research and read what everyone had to say about the Fiskars super splitting axe. I was a little concerned over the "short" handle and price tag of $50+. But it was a GREAT investment. This axe cuts like butter and doesn't get lodged in the stumps. I have split 18" rounds with ease! I am 6'0" tall and didn't have any... more info

Fiskars Splitting Axe
This splitting axe is well worth the money that I spent on it. When I initially got it, I swung at the first few logs with my full force. Green wood takes more effort and logs with knots in them can also take a couple of whacks to get them split, but for my purpose of providing wood for evening and weekend fireplace fires, this axe was perfect.

Excellent Firewood Splitter
Dubious at first, I found the short (28") hollow synthetic handle to give good control and little or no contact 'shock' feedback to my hands and joints. After more than forty years of hand splitting with long-handled mauls and axes, I may have found my ideal splitting pardner!
Tips: Use a chopping/splitting block, esp. if you're six foot or... more info

Looks like a toy, splits like a champ
I splintered too many handles before getting to my decision to purchase this axe. I passed this axe up in favor of something beefier when a friend said the Fiskar axes are great. I took a chance and I'm not disappointed. I admit, it looks like a toy, handle seems too short, and head must be too light, right. I have only split a few cords so far but some of the toughest wood- Iron Wood, knoted Golden Birch, went great. I love the fact that the head doesn't get stuck. I also like the fact that I can swing it... more info
