Samsung DVD-1080P8 Upconverting DVD Player Review
I have two of this Samsung DVD players--one attached to my 32-in LCD widescreen HD TV (1360 by 768 resolution) and the other to my 24-in LCD widescreen PC monitor (1920 by 1200 resolution). Each display is connected via HDMI cable to its corresponding DVD player. Playing high-quality standard DVDs, the picture and sound are stunning on both displays.

Nice player for the price
I've owned this player for about 4 months. I am using it with a Samsung 1080p DLP TV. This player does a very good job of upscaling dvd's. When the DVD is encoded well (good bitrate, anamorphic 16:9), the results are outstanding. Upscaling an older DVD with a poor transfer will show the limitations of the DVD (blocky, poor shadow detail). When you watch animated movies (Like Pixar's Cars) the upscaling results are *very* impressive.
