2008 Man Booker Prize Winner

The White Tiger
The 2008 Man Booker Prize, the UK's top literary prize and the most watched single-book award in the English-speaking world, went to Indian first-time novelist Aravind Adiga for The White Tiger, which The Economist said made its author "the Charles Dickens of the call-centre generation." 2008 Nobel Prize for Literature: Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio

Wandering Star
Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio, one of France's best-known writers, was awarded the 2008 Nobel Prize for Literature for his explorations of civilizations beyond the monolith of Western culture, including Wandering Star, the "bewitching" story of two refugees, one Jewish and one Palestinian.
