Currently
Following a heart attack in September 2004 Richard decided to refocus his career away from recruiting to return to a life-long interest in metaphysics and the healing arts through the practice of Reiki and shamanism. Richard is a Level II Reiki Practitioner in the Usui Tradition.
After the heart attack, and coming close to death, I asked myself what it was that I would regret having NOT done. What was I going to? A few weeks after the heart attack, my sister's brother-in-law (my age) was diagnosed with, and died suddenly, of pancreatic cancer. To me it became quite obvious that I needed to work on my relationship with my Higher Power and follow what that lead me to.
He is now building a Reiki practice while continuing to recruit for a select group of clients.
Mental Health
He served as a Director of OCAB - The Ontario Council of Alternative Business
I got involved with OCAB as a result of my own experience with mental disability and mental health problems.
I was rear-end while driving my car in stop-and-go traffic and suffered an Acquired Brain Injury or Subtle Acquired Brain injury. Chaos and confusion ensued. Serious memory problems. Depression. Cognitive hell. Nothing worked the way it did before. My (so-called) auto-insurer refused to do anything.
ABI - Subtle (Mild) Acquired Brain Injury
If you or a loved one suffer from Subtle Acquired Brain Injury there is help available BUT you really have to advocate for yourself or your loved one. Knowledgeabe health-care providers and resources are scarce.
In Canada there are many people suffering from Subtle (mild) Acquired Brain Injury who are not properly diagnosed. If our heads have not crushed or split open our complaints are usually dismissed. We are referred to by knowledgeable health-care providers as the "walking wounded".
